What makes a great school camp?

School camps are always the highlight of the school year. They provide an opportunity for students to visit new places, try new activities, gain new skills, and create lifelong memories. What makes a great school camp? We’ll explore our top favourite points about our Willow Creek Adventure Camp that make it a great choice for your next school camp in South Australia.

1. Location – Willow Creek Adventure Camp is located on South Australia’s picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula. The camp itself is part of a 3rd generation 800-acre working farm named ‘Koolah’. Surrounded by native bushland, rolling hills, and views from every direction, Willow Creek Adventure Camp is a spectacular location. Despite the feeling of remoteness, it is conveniently located just over an hour drive from the city of Adelaide.

2. Activities – School camps are great when they are jam-packed full of fun and engaging activities that positively challenge and build new skills in kids. Willow Creek has a huge range of outdoor and indoor activities on offer. There is mountain biking, raft building, and orienteering plus disco golf, volleyball, and team challenges, just to name a few. In fact, there are over 20 different activities to do on-site alone. And with its close proximately to local surf beaches, snorkeling beaches, bushwalking, abseiling, and kayaking spots, there are even more activity options nearby. Our facilitators are all keen outdoor enthusiasts themselves and love nothing more than passing on their knowledge and encouraging kids to appreciate outdoor adventures themselves.

3. Accommodation and Facilities – School camps vary a lot in terms of the style of accommodation and facilities. Younger children may require more home comforts such as indoor sleeping arrangements and access to areas for indoor activities. Older children may have an educational goal of building resilience and a camp that gets them out sleeping under the stars in swags is desired. Willow Creek has both of these options on site with dorm accommodation, camping tents and swags all available. With its large commercial kitchen, and indoor and outdoor dining/multi-use spaces, Willow Creek Adventure Camp can cater to almost all age levels and sized groups.
